Due to losing his father at a young age, Paul took on the responsibilities
of the household, while his mother worked three to four jobs to raise the family; he was committed to his family and he fought through all the challenges that life threw at him. When he realized that he had a passion for teaching, he not only put himself through school, but graduated from National Taiwan Normal University, which is the most prestigious university in Taiwan for equipping teachers. During his tenure as a junior high school teacher, he met his first and only girlfriend, his Mei, who to his surprise, loved him back, and the two got married.
Paul was born on February 28, 1959. He was a healthy baby.

After college, Paul started his tenure at Bi Hua Middle School, teaching biology and mathematics. He would also be a part of a teacher group that took students on outings.
