Paul’s Love and Devotion to His Family

Loving his wife and devoting himself to his family

was the motto and principle that Pastor Paul Huang lived by. From the day he met Mei, he made sure that she knew every single day that she was loved, not only through his words but through his loving actions. He was also a romantic and would show his affection to Mei regardless of the setting, even at the risk of embarrassing his two children. His love was concrete, visible, and forever present in his family

Pastor Paul and his wife, Ching-Mei Chen were both teachers, working at the same school for three years before Paul expressed his feelings for Mei. They fell in love, and Paul was lucky that he married his first and only girlfriend after dating six months.

Paul never shied away from showing affection to his wife, Mei. His children could be quite brutal with “Eww” or “Look away, here he goes again” but that did not stop Paul from public displays of affection. One time, he and his wife were walking down a pier with their two teenage boys behind them. He looked at them, and then he held his wife’s hand. Later, he explained that he wanted his children to have positive images of marriage and building a family.

Paul was a supportive father. He didn’t always do things for his children, and instead he encouraged them to try for themselves. He supported them along the way so that they could grow in independence.
